One of the best preserved historical towns in Central Europe. Located over deep meanders of the River Vltava (Moldau), it is well-known for it's almost "fairy-tale" castle, narrow streets and overall medieval  impression. The town was first mentioned in documents from 1253. The castle which is a fine mixture of architectonic styles from 13^th to 19^th century inhabits an outstanding collection of artefacts from nobility life over these ages. Aside multiple culture treasures, the downtown inhabits the Egon Schiele Art Centrum.  

The whole town is on the UNESCO's List of World Cultural and Natural Heritage.

A world-known brewery of Budweiser beer whose history is dated back to the 13^th century. Budweiser Budvar possesses valuable intellectual property in the form of 380 trademarks registered in 101 countries in the world. Some of the most important are Budweiser, Budweiser Budvar, Bud, “Budějovický Budvar”, and Czechvar. This huge intellectual property relates to the place of its origin, the town České Budějovice (formerly Budiwoyz or Budweis). Budweiser Budvar brewery is one of the most successful food-production enterprises for many years in the Czech Republic. Almost half of the production is successfully exported into more than 50 countries in the world.

The Rimov Reservoir is located at the Malše River, south of Ceske Budejovice. Completed in 1978, it serves as a drinking water supply, power plant and flood protection. The  47.5 m high dam holds 34 mil. m³ of water spread over 210 ha in a V-shaped (canyon-shaped), mostly forested valley. Outflow of water from the reservoir to the river can be released from five horizons of the water column, based on actual requests of the River Authority. The reservoir is one of the key study locations surveyed by the researcher from Hydrobiological Institute of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic.
